On the afternoon of April 27, 2025, the lecture titled "The Dynamics of Co-opetition: Strategic Interplay in Business, Management, and International Affairs"was successfully held at the Dishui Lake International Software Engineering Institute. The event featured Professor Charlom Schirman, Director of the International MBA Program at the University of Haifa ,Israel and a seasoned economist, who delivered insights to expand software engineering students’ global perspectives, cultivate strategic thinking, and enhance their core competitiveness in a globalized context.
Prof. Schirman provided an in-depth analysis of "co-opetition"—a strategic management concept rooted in game theory. He emphasized that in today’s complex and ever-changing global business and international relations landscape, the traditional dichotomy of competition and cooperation is insufficient to address real-world challenges. Co-opetition offers a flexible and precise theoretical framework for understanding and navigating dynamic environments, urging organizations to seek collaboration amid competition and vice versa, thereby jointly creating and competing for value. To illustrate the concept, Schirman shared multiple vivid case studies.
Prof. Schirman explored not only the origins and evolution of co-opetition theory but also its broad applications across corporate strategic planning, organizational management, international politics, innovation ecosystems in science and technology, higher education, and public policy. The session saw enthusiastic participation, with faculty and students actively raising questions and engaging in deep discussions on practical issues.
This lecture held significant importance for the institute’s students.
